About this app

Made for a clear purpose.

That periodic chirp is real. ChirpHound helps you work out which device and which room it is coming from, privately and offline.

Start with Auto Discover or choose a frequency preset, then walk through the space. ChirpHound learns the local noise floor, isolates repeatable tonal energy, and gives you live warmer/colder evidence as you approach the source.

NEW IN 4.1 — NEXT CHIRP CLOCK The beep you’re hunting only sounds once a minute. After two chirps, ChirpHound times this device’s rhythm. • Countdown to the next chirp, with WALK / FREEZE / NOW coaching • Freeze in the last few seconds so the measurement is honest • Listen window: slightly more sensitive only when the chirp is due • Adaptive lock onto the tone actually in the room, without narrowing the band

FIND THE BAND • Auto Discover scans 24 bands from 400 Hz to 6 kHz • Repeatability and tonality ranking helps reject broad household noise • 15 curated presets cover alarms, appliances, leak sensors, UPS units, smart devices, and more • A live spectrogram shows where tonal energy is building

COMPARE LOCATIONS FAIRLY • Arm a room and let the next detected chirp become its evidence • Re-measuring a room replaces stale evidence instead of creating duplicates • Rank rooms by detected peak with a clear confidence margin • Keep the screen awake while waiting through long chirp intervals

PRACTICE AND SEARCH OFFLINE • Signal Lab includes 18 original synthetic scenes for timing, echoes, distance, fan masking, and common household sources • Hidden Source Checklist covers 43 places and device types people often miss • Chirp Field Guide includes 44 original visual plates with safety and technique references • Everything is bundled in the app and available without an account

FIELD EVIDENCE • Live relative-dB warmth gauge and optional directional estimate • Adaptive calibration, active microphone route, format, and tonality diagnostics • Chirp log with timestamps, intervals, and burst grouping • Sweep Plan with evidence-based next steps • Local history, notes, CSV export, and PDF field reports

SAFETY-FIRST PATTERN GUIDANCE ChirpHound recognizes repeated groups as well as periodic single chirps. A three-beep alarm pattern is treated as possible smoke or fire. A four-beep alarm pattern is treated as possible carbon monoxide. Maintenance codes vary by manufacturer and model, so the app asks you to verify the exact device manual instead of making a universal claim.

BUILT FOR PRIVACY • Audio is analyzed live on this device. • Audio is not recorded or uploaded. • No account is required. • No advertising, analytics, tracking, or third-party SDKs. • Hunt and checklist data remain in the app container unless you explicitly export a report.

ChirpHound is a locating and reference aid. It is not a smoke alarm, carbon-monoxide alarm, calibrated sound-level meter, or substitute for emergency action. If a real alarm is sounding, leave the area, follow its instructions, and contact emergency services from a safe location.
