About this app

Made for a clear purpose.

Adiabat is a serious, offline Skew-T log-P workbench for pilots, glider and paraglider crews, storm chasers, and forecast enthusiasts who need to read an atmospheric sounding where there is no signal.

Every number is computed on your device from real parcel theory and bundled reference data. There is no account, no subscription, and no cloud round-trip. Open the app on a plane, in a launch field, or in a dead-zone cove and it works exactly the same.

IMPORT FIELD AND FORECAST SOUNDINGS • Open JSON, CSV, TSV, and University of Wyoming sounding tables from Files • Paste profile rows directly from a message, document, or weather workstation • Automatic column recognition and unit conversion for height and wind • A pre-analysis quality gate flags sparse moisture, wind, vertical coverage, and pressure gaps • Imported profiles remain editable and stored only on your device

PROFILE BRIEFING • Compare surface-based, mixed-layer, and most-unstable parcels in one view • See instability, inhibition, deep-layer shear, helicity, cloud, and icing findings in plain language • Review an explainable 0–100 data-confidence score before relying on derived values • Share a compact text briefing without an account or server

FULL SKEW-T LOG-P DIAGRAM • Temperature and dewpoint traces on a proper skewed log-pressure grid • Dry adiabats, moist (pseudo) adiabats, and mixing-ratio lines • Lifted-parcel curve with shaded CAPE and CIN areas • LCL, LFC, and EL levels marked on the diagram • Wind barbs alongside the profile • Touch anywhere to read pressure, temperature, and height

PARCEL THEORY DONE RIGHT • Surface-based, mixed-layer, and most-unstable parcels • CAPE, CIN, LCL, LFC, EL, and Lifted Index • Virtual-temperature correction for realistic buoyancy • RK4 integration of the moist adiabat, not lookup tables

SEVERE-WEATHER INDICES • 0–1 km and 0–6 km bulk shear • Storm-relative helicity (0–1 km and 0–3 km) • Energy-Helicity Index • 0–3 km, 700–500 hPa, and 850–500 hPa lapse rates • Precipitable water, freezing level, K-index, Total Totals

INTERACTIVE HODOGRAPH • Height-coloured wind trace • Bunkers right- and left-moving storm motion • 0–6 km mean wind and storm-relative geometry

HAZARD DIAGNOSTICS • Airframe icing layers in the supercooled saturated range • Near-saturation cloud layers with estimated coverage • Plain-language convective summary

GLOBAL STATION DATABASE, BUNDLED • Tens of thousands of surface and upper-air stations • The IGRA radiosonde network plus ICAO/IATA airports • Search by name or code, or find stations near you • A locator map drawn from bundled coastline data

TERRAIN CROSS-SECTIONS • Great-circle terrain profiles from a bundled global relief grid • Reference heights (freezing level, LCL, EL) overlaid • Preset mountain transects or your own coordinates

REPRESENTATIVE SOUNDINGS, EDIT YOUR OWN • A set of real observed soundings across convective, tropical, arctic, and maritime regimes • Build, import, or edit any sounding level by level, entirely offline • Expandable level controls include pressure, height, temperature, dewpoint, wind direction, and speed • Export an annotated analysis as text

PRIVATE BY DESIGN Adiabat collects nothing and sends nothing. Location, if you enable it, is used only on the device to find nearby stations and never leaves it.

Note: Adiabat’s diagnostics are advisory and are derived from a single vertical profile. They are educational and planning aids and are not a substitute for official aviation, marine, or severe-weather products.
